Ross,

Just saw VAT-Spy crashing whilst it tried to parse the datafeed (e.g. the application window itself had completed its initial draw and the progress bar for loading the datafeed had just finished). The next datafeed cycle (or so) was parsed correctly with no crash.

In case you're interested, I captured the bad data and the good data that subsequently worked.

One entry I noticed was missing in the latter data was, among many other, the prefiled plan for SIA2. It stood out because of its ridiculously long remark section:

Code:
(FPL-SIA2-IS -B77W/H-SDE1FGHIJ1RWXYZ/LB1 -VHHH0400 -N0495F310 DCT ENVAR M750 MELEN/N0493F330 M750 MJE A590 KAGIS OTR11 LEPKI DCT  41N160E/N0482F350 44N170E 45N180W 46N170W 46N160W 46N150W/N0473F370 44N140W  41N130W DCT UNVER DCT ENI GOLDN6 -KSFO1147 KOAK -PBN/A1B1C1D1L1O1S1 NAV/RNVD1E2A1 DOF/160416 REG/9VSWV  EET/RCAA0027 RJJJ0117 KZAK0526 KZOA1108 RVR/75 PER/D  TALT/VMMC -E/1322)  /v/

Could it be that VAT-Spy can't handle remarks of that length?

Remarks length shouldn't be an issue, I don't limit the size of any strings.

Were you unable to grab any details about the unhandled exception?

VAT-Spy isn't a .NET application, is it? I didn't get the typical .NET error window - it was just the generic Windows app crash dialog.

As for the details, no; I closed it at the time and went to grab the datafeed, thinking I could recover the crash report later via Event Viewer. Turns out, it wasn't logged for some reason.

EDIT: Found the crash report in the Reliability history...

Turns out it was caused by one of the FSD servers being listed twice in the !SERVERS section. VAT-Spy doesn't handle this gracefully. I've added it to the bug list so it'll be updated if I ever release a new version. Not going to worry about it for now since it's not something that is caused by bad user-entered data.

Thanks for the bug report and for grabbing the bad data.

Edit: Tturns out I already logged this bug back in 2011. Razz
