Hello,

here are some Pics of the new Tower- and Ground Sectorfile of EDDS / Stuttgart/Germany (www.vacc-sag.org / Frankfurt FIR).

It's based on real ground charts, adapted to fit the German Airports 1 Scenery, which is most widely used.

This is my first try to get a more complex Ground-Sectorfile, so there will be some changes in the future for sure.

Runway Centerline can be switched, according to Landing Direction:
Runway 25 in use

Runway 07 in use

West Side of EDDS

Apron and General Aviation Parking 3

Main Apron

Main Taxi Intersection I, N, S, K

Cargo Apron and US-Military Airfield

East Side of EDDS

GAP 1, 2 and 3

Holding Point A, RWY 25

Mfg Alex.

Good evening,

I converted Real charts in pdf Format and Afcad-Bgl Files into DXF Format.

I have then produced an overlay in Autocad and amended the real airport layout to fit the Afcad File. Moving the different parts on different layers (e.g. Taxiways, Lights, Buildings...) and saving everything again in DXF Format.

Now I converted these DXF File into the new SCT2 Format.

That's it.

Best regards.
Alex.

What is DXF, and how do you convert AFACD's into DXF?

Hello,

Check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AutoCAD_DXF

There are bgl-to-xml converters on avsim, and I wrote a small program which converts these xml-data into dxf-format.

Best regards.

I hope that answers your question. If not, let me know.

Best regards

Yea I had a look into it, but I can't find BGL-DXF converter. There are ones to convert other formats to DXF etc. Do you have an exact name of the file?

Good evening,

there are only bgl-to-xml converters. From xml-to-dxf, I use a small program in qbasic which just converts the data into coordinates.

Best regards.

Hi gents
I have no words to say how wonderful is this gnd scenery. Just a marvellous work. Confratulations.
I'm only a computer user and my knowledge for all you had talking about are very limitated. Anyway I'd like to try to design similar scenery for some spanish airport. Would you like to shared with us this small program you have designed? Looks like this is the key to open a great world of detailed VRC screens.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I have no problem to give you that program/source code.

But:
There is no user interface.
There are just some lines of code which just converts from autocad format into sectorfile coordinates.
It's programed in QBasic.
It's adapted on the Stuttgart area and have to be changed to meet your requirements.
So, you should be able to reprogram it.

Best regards.
Alex.

Hi there, Alexander

I'm really proud to receive that tool you designed and work on it to reach similar skill of "perfection" you get with EDDS.

Thankyou very much

Vicente
