Wow... people ready to help you with a problem that has never been reported before, we were just asking for a screenshot to help you troubleshoot your problem, and then a "screw this"..... Just wow.... Good luck....

mikeman, no worries. Thank you for reporting back on the cause of the issue.

That is interesting, though.... That seems to indicate some level of error checking that I wasn't aware of. Ross, can you elaborate?

There is no error checking that enables/disables the file button. The only requirement is that you are connected and not in observer mode.

We can't speak to simbrief and why they have a message asking you to contact their owner.

If you're worried about privacy on this forum, feel free to PM me your CID; I'm happy to keep your information private and let you know what I find out, if anything.

Also, we'll need to set up a controlled experiment to aid in further troubleshooting. Please replicate the problem, post a screenshot that moves the flight plan window far enough away from the default vPilot window where I can see both of them, and let me know the date/time of your login so I can correlate what I'm seeing to the specific login. Along with the screenshot, please post the text of your entire flight plan. DO NOT use the VATSIM prefile service first. Finally, please confirm that when you've been logging on, you have NOT been logging on in observer mode.
